This is post #275. I find that entirely crazy.
A couple of old world European fancy animals: a Spanish donkey and French goat. El Burro is often recognized, as he is the grandson of the donkey from The Bremen Town Musicians. He and Maynard tried to start a little banjo duo at one time, but they determined very quickly that their friendship would not survive the great chasm of their artistic differences. They are still friends. Both continue to play, but not together.
I am making progress with my plan to make a Fancy Animals poster! Here are 20 (which includes four created before the recent fancy animal frenzy.)
I think the poster should include nameplates. So I have to figure out the best way to do that. (A variety of handdrawn nameplate ribbons? Something digitally created?) Please feel free to make suggestions of this nature!
Happy Paint Party Friday (which was yesterday)! Thanks for stopping in!

They look STAGGERINGLY great together. Like, I’m not even sure you comprehend how great. Wow! (Also Maynard Chevre’s goatee? HEEEEEEE!)
Sadly, I have zero suggestions on the nameplates. I think it looks incredibly amazing just like that! Have you done any mockups with nameplates yet?
I have not done that yet, no! In fact, I also had this idea for frames I would draw and then randomly assign throughout the poster, so it was like a giant wall of framed fancy animals with nameplates! Holy cow, I may have to do that. Maybe that will be the special edition poster. :D
Wonderful herd of fantastic creatures. I love the new additions. Such powerful images and I think of all kinds of stories — but I want them to tell their own. Love your colors and line work.
I had to come back and say how much I enjoyed browsing through your work. You have a great imagination and I’m glad I found your site. I look forward to seeing more!
Thank you kindly! It’s always nice to hear, I must say. ;)
Such great characters! Each with its own personality. Love seeing them all together like that!
I am also a big fan of collections! So hopefully in a poster!
Gorgeous color on both of these paintings. Maynard’s eyes are wonderful. I think hand drawn nameplate ribbons would be perfect.
You have a seriously an amazing style…wow… really special! Love everything you do!

Huge smile:) I’ve never seen such specimens of old world grace. That pipe-inspired! Another great set Cindy.
Love seeing all of your amazing animals gathered together ♥
20 fancy animals and 275 posts. Thank you for sharing your wonderful art!
AMAZING….you have such a strong style and it always looks incredible when grouped together.
Have you thought about turning these images into playing cards…..I can see a queen, king, jack, joker, Ace….and the entire deck. Just wonderful and fun images…….fantastic collection!!
Love your French goat ;-) And the poster looks amazing. The idea of Clara to make them into playing cards is great! No suggestion about the nameplates though. It seems a shame to put something on top of them …
These are so wonderful! I love them, they will make such a great poster! Maybe a special edition for the one with nameplates?
wowow these are amazing. There is such character in each one. Very well done

Read the story. Was it more like “dueling banjos”, Cindy? …or does that date me? They are both great, but the burro with the pipe makes me grin. Cool poster project.
The burro with that crooked pipe made me laugh! These two are pretty sharp looking.
Long live fancy! Hahaha, I love Maynard’s eyebrows. It’s too bad they did not form that banjo duo. I would have loved to see them pluck those strings with hooves. Seeing all your fancy characters together is gorgeously arresting!
Wow! These are delicious! I love steampunk!
Who can’t help but appreciate your work? Such a unique style and I always just smile at your creations!
So unique and creative!
Smiles, Saskia :)
Wow! You have been busy! I think this is going to make an incredible poster! I love how they all compliment each other. Keep rockin Cindy.
They do look old world. I especially like Maynard’s hat.
They look fantastic together! Great work Cindy!
