I’ll be honest, I don’t know why I keep drawing flowers on their noses and hair. I kind of dig it. This one I think is not quite as nice as my first very serious fur attempt, but he has some excellent qualities.
I picked up an 005 mechanical pencil with HB lead and I love it! I don’t have to sharpen it! But, sometimes you have to let more lead out instead of scratching stuff up and not realizing you have to let more lead out. Haha. I also got some of theseĀ tortillions but didn’t have them handy and the q-tip continued to be a fine alternative. (Don’t you love supplies with fancy names that don’t cost an arm and a leg!)
As a side note, it has sadly come to my attention that all of my old gallery slideshows of work in progress no longer work. When I first started in 2011 the whole process was SO TEDIOUS with the scanning and re-sizing and cleaning up and re-naming and posting holy cow. But I learned things and some people liked the things, and that’s great! And now, to new things! With mechanical pencils sometimes!
Thanks for dropping in! Hello to Paint Party Friday!
I love him. So much detail. Have a great weekend.
What a beauty you have created today. Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie
This is delightful and I think your fur is perfect! Happy PPF
Oh my god, i love it, especially the flowers added in the fur!
Wow…..I haven’t visited in awhile and I love your new style…..the mechanical pencil suites you great. Your rendering skills are wonderful……love the details in the sparkling eyes and fur. I used to work w charcoals and tortillions too and found them to be so helpful for creating the smooth gradients.
Love this guy. He looks a little aloof. I love using a Bic mechanical pencil. They always stay sharp and the erasers are good.
he is absolutely marvelous!!!
The detail on your drawings is fantastic. I love your style.
I never fail to smile when I see your amazing characters…they are so fabulous…unique and fun!! You have the best style ever!!
Hugs Giggles
And a smashing bow tie it is!
I am in love with mechanical pencils. I love using the .9–bigger and softer than normal. I also recently acquired a .3–very sharp and thin–just don’t get soft lead–cracks every 5 seconds. I also like drafting pencils with those cool sharpeners and seemingly endless lead. Love the flowers–so cool. xo
Great work with the mechanical pencil, so detailed. I do like your creatures, they have such personality.
Preston is terrific and I’m sure he loves his flowers and bow tie.
You just amaze me. Your talent is incredible.
Fab drawing
Cindy, I LOVE your creativity and style. Hair and skin do trap scents from the environment, so to me the flowers make sense!
Than you for sharing! I really like your banner too! Unique!
Cindy, nice creature character sketch. Love all the details.
I love the flowers! And all those tiny details …. You say you wouldn’t have the patience to finish a painting, but I surely wouldn’t have the patience to make these kind of intricate drawings! Sorry you lost all of your slideshows, they were very interesting …
I love his face and flowers somehow look perfectly placed!
Thanks for visiting my blog and for the lovely comment.
He’s very cute. I use a .5 H lead mechanical pencil to lay out my drawings. I would never have a sharp point otherwise. LOL
