Hello August. I have Plans for you.

Happy August, fine visitor people! I had this plan that for July I would make certain changes and meet certain small goals. Most of that didn’t happen, but some did, and that was far better than none. Now it is August, and I am considering July a test run. I know that is all rather vague! But this is an art blog so here is some recent art. ;)

Two Cat Princesses and One Mushroom Princess

Faces and more faces. One thing I am looking into this month is life drawing classes, which is I think the right thing to do for my art. Sal Schiebe continues to do life drawing and she already has crazy enviable figure drawing skills. I think it’s time!

Of course, I missed signups for the class at the local art center by two weeks and will have to wait until another starts. I haven’t yet found just a drop-in life drawing class, but I shall continue to search.

Thanks for stopping by! Some progress pics below. :D

New Listings from the Fungus Architect

Nine More from the Renowned Fungus Architect
Each 2.5″ x 3.5″ Copics, fine liners (one with Prismacolor pencils)

For those who want to know the names of these stylish abodes, row one: Mr. Big Feet’s House, The One with the Walkup, Sunflower House. Row 2: Home of the Newlywed Astronomers, The Quiet Place, The Red Bench. Row three: Pixie’s Place (Prismacolor pencils), Double-Wide with Rooftop Isolation Chamber, Threesome.

So many new ATCs, mostly due to the ATC (Artist Trading Card) art-athon over at illustratedatcs.com last weekend. Lots of art and lots of trading is a fine way to spend a weekend. (Making art at breakneck speeds does not allow much slowdown for progress shots, but there are a few.)

Thanks for dropping in! Hello to Paint Party Friday! The posting has been sporadic. I notice the same with other folks!

Tiny Houses from Recent Days, Copic Art Cards

Six Tiny Houses, Mushroom and Otherwise

From Left to right: Gnome Model Home; Home Office, Gnome Poetry Correspondence School; Yellow Single with Loft; Tonics Twenty-five Cents; Mrs. Parsley’s Getaway; and, The Blue One. Because, as I often say, I like to name things. :)

I believe I have a good idea for (at least a small) book, and it will involve many tiny houses. More details to follow eventually!

Thanks for stopping in! I appreciate everyone who stops in. You are a small but loyal lot, many of you, and it does not go unnoticed!

Not too many progress pics today. Sometimes I just barrel through without stopping. (Though the progress pics for several of these can be found in recent posts.)

I try not to post so many at once but I thought I would catch up after posting sporadically, recently. Still working on book ideas! And one day I’ll let you know if I get to the next step. :)

Thanks for dropping in! Hello again to Paint Party Friday, if you head this way from there.

Colorful Girls, Goth Themed, Copic Markers

Four Goth Themed Girls
Each 2.5″ x 3.5″ Copics, fine liners, gel pen

Yet more art cards! I’ve been feeling recently, as I do sometimes but this time even more, that I really, REALLY ought to do bigger things. Like that book I keep mentioning.

Can you people believe it’s just about July already! Egad. Hello to Paint Party Friday people, if you happen to make it over. Lots of progress pics below. :)

Tiny and Fancy Strikes Again (Strike Again?)

Three Fancy Women, One Treehouse
Each 2.5″ x 3.5″ Copics, fine liners gel pen

Maybe “Tiny and Fancy” should be my alternate blog title. The one on the bottom is not quite done – it will probably get some more black pen and gel pen. These are (left to right): Prudence, Yara the Soothsayer, keva (in progess) and Tonics Twenty-Five Cents.

Despite my repeated insistence I want to start painting, actually making myself do it is proving maddeningly difficult. I should stop talking about it. (I’m not sure if that will make it more or less likely to happen.)

I have made book notes which are a very very preliminary stage of a book project. Perhaps I will have more to report next time!

Hello Paint Party Friday! It’s been a while!

Many Trees in Pen and Ink, Post #350

350 Posts! That’s quite a lot. it’s also more than halfway through the year, which is complete madness. And since it’s that year I said I was going to work on and finish a book, I better get cracking.

The delightful Ann D’Angelo of Wonderstrange declared the first ten days of June, “Ten Days of Trees” over at art card site IllustratedATCs. While some folks went realistic, I … did not do that.

Three Tree Houses
Each 2.5″ x 3.5″ Copics, fine liners, gel pen

The first three trees are various sorts of living situations. The center tree, with it’s tiny initials “G.P.” is titled, Home Office, Gnome Poetry Correspondence School.

Three Trees, Three Faces
Each 2.5″ x 3.5″ Copics, fine liners, Prismacolor pencils

You might recognize the very weird middle face from the last post! Here we have the Cat in the Dragon’s Blood Tree Hat, the Oracle of the Forest, and the Oak Tree Crown.

Three More Trees

These three are a bit more decorative and doodle-y.

Some progress pics below. Thanks for dropping in!

Strange and Colorful Faces, in Pencil and Pen

Coral, Grizeld, Oracle of the Forest
Each 2.5″ x 3.5″ Copics, fine liners, gel pen, Prismacolor Pencils (on Coral)

Some weird and wild faces as I try to get back into the habit of drawing every day. I’ve also done quite a few trees! You might have seen some on my FaceBook page. I will post them next time!

The one with the four eyes creeps me out a little, I admit!

Raven with Scarf, Raven Called Hamish
Each 2.5″ x 3.5″ Copics, fine liner, gel pen

I made a small flock of new birds in the last couple weeks, and then had to keep it a secret because they were a secret swap gift. I am happy to report they have been received with much appreciation. :D

One Very Fluffy Cat, in Acrylics

Hello! My name is Cindy, and it’s been thirty days since my last post.  However, it’s a painting post rather than a pen and ink post. That’s something!

Super Fluffy Cat, 5″ x 7″ acrylics

Back in January or so I promised to trade a 5″ x 7″ canvas painted with a cat. Then I got painter’s block and didn’t paint until, well, this weekend. Considering my apparent reluctance to practice and my novice level skills with paints – something I would love to remedy but I find it hard to make myself sit down and paint – somehow this cat looks like a cat! He went through some crazy transformations as I tried to figure out what I was doing (see progress pics below).

I’m trying to determine how to best motivate myself for the next painting (please reply if you have a suggestion). I’m considering trying to do some fantasy type paintings for the art show at another convention later this year.

Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ve also done some new pen and ink art cards, but I’m gonna hold them for the next post. :D
